New Website Coming Up Soon

Hey!

I'm opening up a new website soon!

www.readergirl.com will be opening on *drumrolls* December 25!

Thanksgiving is coming up soon, so hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Also, Christmas is slowly making it's way towards us, so how about a themed book?

CHRISTMAS JARS:  by Jason Wright

Where had it come from? Whose money was it? Was I to spend it? Save it? Pass it on to someone more needy? Above all else, why was I chosen? Certainly there were others, countless others, more needy than me...

Journalist Hope Jensen is devastated when her adoptive mother dies from ovarian cancer shortly after Christmas. Adding to her woes, her apartment is broken into and all of her emergency cash stolen. Hope then discovers that someone has left her a gift-a glass mason jar labeled "Christmas Jar," filled with money. Using her investigative skills, she learns that in recent years, several people have reported receiving these mysterious jars in times of need. Hope's search leads her to the Maxwell family and their generous Christmas tradition-and to some truths about her birth mother. In the tradition of Catherine Ryan Hyde's Pay It Forward, Wright's holiday novel could inspire others to Christmas generosity. Recommended for paperback collections. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.

I havent read Christmas Jars yet, but I'm sure it will be a great book! Find out more on Barnes and Nobles website, bn.com

It's Not So Easy Being Pretty...

And Spencer, Emily, Hannah, and Aria know this for sure...

Pretty Little Liars
By Sara Shephard

It's not easy being Ali's best friend. Ali was always the beautiful one. The one noticed. The one who no one could take their eyes of. With her blue eyes and blonde hair, Ali had the whole school under her thumb.
But after Ali's devastating death, her best friends find out that Ali wasn't telling them everything... And someone called "A" is sending them instant messages, emails, texts, and notes, spreading around their secrets. And how does "A" know all this. Some of these secrets only Ali knows. Has Ali come back from the dead to haunt her old best friends?
Spencer covets her sister's boyfriend. Aria's fantasizing about her English teacher. Emily's crushing on the new girl at school. Hanna uses some ugly tricks to stay beautiful.
But they've all kept an even bigger secret since their friend Alison vanished.
How do A know? Because A knows everything about the bad girls they were, the naughty girls they are, and all the dirty secrets they've kept. And guess what? A's telling.

Flawless
By Sara Shephard

Spencer, Emily, Hannah, and Aria aren't as flawless as they seem. Though they have no pimples on the outside, their insides are utterly covered... And with what? Dirty secrets, naughty thoughts. Who says they're flawless?
"A" is still at it. Secrets of Ali's old four best friends are being dropped like bombs, and people are starting to see that these four girls aren't such clean slates....
Spencer stole her sister's boyfriend. Aria is brokenhearted over her English teacher. Emily likes her new friend Maya . . . as much more than a friend. Hanna's obsession with looking flawless is making her sick. And their most horrible secret yet is so scandalous that the truth would ruin them forever.
And why shouldn't I tell? They deserve to lose it all. With every crumpled note, wicked IM, and vindictive text message I send, I'll be taking these pretty little liars down. Trust me, I've got enough dirt to bury them alive.

Perfect
By Sara Shephard

Some people aren't as perfect as they seem. Especially four girls, who happen to be the old best friends of the dead Ali.
In a town where gossip thrives like the ivy that clings to its mansions, where mysteries lie behind manicured hedges and skeletons hide in every walk-in closet, four perfect-looking girls aren't nearly as perfect as they seem.
Three years ago, Spencer, Aria, Emily, Hanna, and their best friend Alison were the girls at Rosewood Day School. They clicked through the halls in their Miu Miu flats, tanned in their matching Pucci bikinis, and laughed behind their freshly manicured fingernails. They were the girls everyone loved but secretly hated—especially Alison.
So when Alison mysteriously vanished one night, Spencer, Aria, Emily, and Hanna's grief was tinged with . . . relief. And when Alison's body was later discovered in her own backyard, the girls were forced to unearth some ugly memories of their old friend, too. Could there be more to Alison's death than anyone realizes?
Now someone named A, someone who seems to know everything, is pointing the finger at one of them for Ali's murder. As their secrets get darker and their scandals turn deadly, A is poised to ruin their perfect little lives forever

Unbelievable
By Sara Shephard

Some secrets are unbelievable. Especially four girls who live in Rosewood, and happen to go by the names of Spencer, Emily, Hannah, and Aria, the old best friends of murdered Ali.
These four girls are having their unbelievable secrets trailed around on a ripping rope... And they'll come free unless they do what "A" says.
Behind Rosewood's grand façades, where the air smells like apples and Chanel No. 5 and infinity pools sparkle in landscaped backyards, nothing is as it seems. It was here, back in seventh grade, that five best friends shared everything—Seven jeans, MAC makeup, and their deepest, darkest secrets. For Aria, Spencer, Hanna, and Emily, it was a dream come true . . . until Alison, the most beautiful of them all, suddenly vanished.
Now someone named A has turned their charmed lives into a living nightmare. Emily has been shipped off to her hyper-conservative cousins in Iowa. Aria is stuck living with her dad and his home-wrecker girlfriend. And Spencer fears she had something to do with Alison's murder. But Hanna's fate is far worse than all of that—she's clinging to life in the hospital, because she knew too much.
With A's threats turning dangerous and Ali's killer still on the loose, the girls must uncover the truth—about A, about Ali, and about what happened to Hanna—before they become A's next victims. But as they unravel Rosewood's mysteries and secrets, will it bring an end to the horror . . . or is this just the beginning?

Hope you enjoy these compelling novels. These books are great for reading at night, when no ones around. You wont be able to put them down!
Once I've read the rest of the collection, I'll post about them up here!

I Spy With My Little Eye...

Some new books!

Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy
 By Ally Carter

The spy game isn't just a guy game, as witnessed by Carter's diverting entry into the flurry of teen espionage novels flashing loads of girl power. Unfortunately, Raudman sounds like she's straining (and sometimes squeakily so) to sound younger than she is and her intonation is a bit off, giving her reading a falseness that's hard to overcome. Cammie is a sophomore at the Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women a place that lives up to its name, as Cammie knows 14 languages and is a skilled killing machine. Of course, Gallagher girls become the most elite spies, and Cammie fires ahead on that career track (as was her mother, now the school's headmistress) until romance with an ordinary guy, no less threatens to derail her progress. Despite any shortcomings, aficionados of this burgeoning fiction genre will be tempted to give this title a go.

Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy
By Ally Carter

After staking out, obtaining, and then being forced to give up her first boyfriend, Josh, all Cammie Morgan wants is a peaceful semester. But that's easier said than done when you're a CIA legacy and go to the premier school in the world...for spies.

Cammie may have a genius IQ , but there are still a lot of things she doesn't know. Like, will her ex-boyfriend even remember she exists? And how much trouble is she really in after what happened last semester? And most of all, why is her mother acting so strangely?

Despite Cammie's best intentions to be a normal student, danger seems to follow her. She and her best friends learn that their school is going to play host to some mysterious guests--code name: "Blackthorne. Then she's blamed for a security breach that leaves the school's top-secret status at risk.

Soon Cammie and her friends are crawling through walls and surveilling the school to learn the truth about Blackthorne and clear Cammie's name. Even though they have confidence in their spy skills, this time the targets are tougher (and hotter), and the stakes for Cammie's heart--and her beloved school--are higher than ever.

Don't Judge A Girl By Her Cover
By Ally Carter

When Cammie "The Chameleon" Morgan visits her roommate Macey in Boston, she thinks she's in for an exciting end to her summer break. After all, she's there to watch Macey's father accept the nomination for vice president of the United States. But when you go to the world's best school (for spies), "exciting" and "deadly" are never far apart. Cammie and Macey soon find themselves trapped in a kidnappers' plot, with only their espionage skills to save them.

As her junior year begins, Cammie can't shake the memory of what happened in Boston, and even the Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women doesn't feel like the safe haven it once did. Shocking secrets and old flames seem to lurk around every one of the mansion's corners as Cammie and her friends struggle to answer the questions, Who is after Macey? And how can the Gallagher Girls keep her safe?

Soon Cammie is joining Bex and Liz as Macey's private security team on the campaign trail. The girls must use their spy training at every turn as the stakes are raised, and Cammie gets closer and closer to the shocking truth..

My favorite book out of these three is Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy. I couldn't put the book down, until i finished it! These books are great books for reading on a plane, or curling up in your reading chair. Hope you enjoy!

So what, Scholastic?

Camilla has two moms....

And so what? Well, Scholastic sure doesn't approve. They've said they don't want Lauren Myracle's new book in their book fairs because Camilla, one of the main characters in the book, has two moms. What kind of message does this send out to kids who have two moms or two dads? That they aren't normal. And they are.
A whole bunch of people agree on this. They support Lauren. Some people have even canceled visits from Scholastic to their school because of this. And they shouldn't regret it. I know I accept same-sex parents, and I think everyone should.
One quote that someone wrote to Lauren:
"The problem is not that [certain subject matter] is too difficult for children, but that it's too difficult for grown ups."

Yahooties! Happy dancing time!

Luv Ya Bunches: By Lauren Myracle

So, at last, Luv Ya Bunches is out! Wh-hoo! It's arriving on Christmas, along with my Grandma! :) Vair cool! I haven't read it yet, so I can't really judge it.. But here's a summary on it!:

What do Katie-Rose, Yasaman, Milla, and Violet all have in common? Other than being named after flowers, practically nothing. Katie-Rose is a film director in training. Yasaman is a computer whiz. Milla is third in command of the A list. And Violet is the new girl in school. They’re fab girls, all of them, but they sure aren’t friends. And if evil queen bee Medusa— ’scuse me, Modessa—has her way, they never will be. But this is the beginning of a new school year, when anything can happen and social worlds can collide . . .
Told in Lauren Myracle’s inventive narrative style—here a fresh mix of instant messages, blog posts, screenplay, and straight narrative—Luv Ya Bunches, the first in a four-book series, is a funny, honest depiction of the shifting alliances and rivalries that shape school days, and of the lasting friendships that blossom from the skirmishes.

Doesn't it look fantastico!? I just... Can't wait! :)

Now, skiddidle! Shoo! Go get the book!

A Great and Terrible Beauty Triology

A Great and Terrible Beauty: By Libba Bray

It's 1895 and, after the death of her mother, 16-year-old Gemma Doyle is shipped off from the life she knows in India to Spence, a proper boarding school in England. Lonely, guilt-ridden, and prone to visions of the future that have an uncomfortable habit of coming true, Gemma finds her reception a chilly one. She's not completely alone, though... she's being followed by a mysterious young man, sent to warn her to close her mind against the visions.

It's at Spence that Gemma's power to attract the supernatural unfolds, as she becomes entangled with the school's most powerful girls and discovers her mother's connection to a shadowy, timeless group called The Order. Her destiny awaits... if only Gemma could believe in it.

Rebel Angels: By Libba Bray

It's the end of the year, and Gemma is looking forward to living it up in London. Balls, fancy gowns, and dancing with the Simon Middleton beckon. Best of all, it's time away from Spence Academy- and from the Realms.

But the lure of the enchanted world is strong, and the magic flows freely. Gemma's visions intensify- visions of three girls dressed in white, suffering horror and menace. Clearly all is not well in the Realms- or out of them.

Set against the rich backdrop of Victorian London, a place of shadows and light, in a time of strict morality and barely repressed sensuality, this compelling gothic sequel  reveals that inside great beauty can lie a rebel angel...

The Sweet Far Thing: By Libba Bray

It has been a year of change since Gemma Doyle arrived at the foreboding Spence Academy. Her mother murdered, her father alaudanum addict, Gemma has relied on an unsuspected strength and has discovered an ability to travel to an enchanted world called the realms, where dark magic runs wild. Despite certain peril, Gemma has bound the magic to herself and forged unlikely new alliances. Now, as Gemma approaches her London debut, the time has come to test these bonds.

The Order—the mysterious group her mother was once part of—is grappling for control of the realms, as is the Rakshana. Spence's burned East Wing is being rebuilt, but why now? Gemma and her friends see Pippa, but she is not the same. And their friendship faces its gravest trial as Gemma must decide once and for all what role she is meant for.

3 awesome books!
